Cycling Challenge Team Building

Move over Tiger Woods – Chris Froome is on your tail – golf’s out, cycling’s in!

With the success of the British Cycling Teams at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, and Chris Froome’s phenomenal wins in the Tour de France and Vuelta a España, cycling events have quickly overtaken the traditional Golf Day as the preferred way to network with your important clients and contacts.

“Sportive” Cycling events can take many forms, and you don’t need to be a lycra clad fanatic to take part.  Corporate events take into account the wide variety of experience/inexperience their guests may have, and will usually offer 2 or 3 routes on a Sportive:  easy (no more than 15 miles there and back, flat terrain), medium (30 miles return, some hills) and hard (for the real Bradley Wiggins – hilly, all terrain, with perhaps some speed challenges thrown in).  All will offer a half way point for refreshments, lunch, and you’ll be teamed up with an experienced cycle company who can support riders from the time they arrive: checking your bike is roadworthy, providing support throughout the route for punctures, adjusting seating, gears and so on.

All routes will be easily signposted so no-one gets lost, and there is always a sweep-up vehicle which will drive behind the last cyclist to pick up any stragglers who get tired along the way and want some respite!

First Aid is a must at these type of sporting events, as is the obligatory social side:  corporate events are about networking, so getting to know your fellow cyclists en route, and picking over the tricky bits of the ride are a must over a beer or two when you get past the finish post!

Globe can help co-ordinate your next big Sportive by working with you on all of the above aspects to make sure your event is a great experience for all. Contact us now to discuss how we can turn your next sporting event into an Olympic Extravaganza!
